Mount Revelstoke National Park

The smallest national park in the region, Mount Revelstoke National Park 2 [map] was created in 1914 to protect the Clachnacudainn Range of the Columbia Mountains. The Trans-Canada Highway runs just inside the park's boundary for 13km (8 miles) along its southern perimeter and boasts views of forests and snow-capped peaks aplenty.

The Meadows-in-the-Sky-Parkway

The main access point to the park interior is the easily accessed Meadows-in-the-Sky-Parkway 3 [map]. It opens when the road is snow-free, usually from May to early October. Strike north from the Trans-Canada Highway at Revelstoke and wind up the switchbacks through forest and alpine meadows with glorious displays of wildflowers. A gate lies 1km (0.6 miles) shy of the summit at Balsam Lake where you can take a regular shuttle bus (daily 10am–4.30pm) to the summit.
